Online Gambling in Alberta
On July 13, 2026 Alberta became the second province, after Ontario, to open its online gambling market to private companies. Operators registered with AGLC and contracted by the new Alberta iGaming Corporation can now offer casino games and sports betting to players aged 18+, next to AGLC’s own Play Alberta.

How Alberta’s New Market Works
- The iGaming Alberta Act (Bill 48) passed in May 2025 and created the Alberta iGaming Corporation (AiGC), which conducts and manages the market and signs commercial agreements with operators.
- AGLC (Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis) regulates and registers operators.
- An operator needs both an AGLC registration and an AiGC agreement.
- Play Alberta, AGLC’s own site since 2020, keeps operating.
On launch day 22 sites from 15 operators went live. Companies already serving Albertans could get extensions until October 13, 2026 if they showed a path to registration; poker sites had the same deadline to launch Alberta platforms or leave.
