Sport Select, Pro-Line and PROLINE+ Explained
Every province sells a sports lottery, but the names are confusing: Sport Select in the West, Pro-Line in Atlantic Canada and BC, PROLINE and PROLINE+ in Ontario, Mise-o-jeu in Quebec. Some can only be bought in stores, others online. This guide sorts them out and shows where you can legally bet on sports online in your province.

Sport Select (Western Canada Lottery Corporation)
Sport Select is WCLC’s sports lottery. WCLC is owned by Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba, with Yukon, the Northwest Territories and Nunavut as associate members, so Sport Select is sold in all six. Its games:
- Pro-Line — pick win, tie or lose at fixed odds; combine several games on one ticket.
- Point Spread — the favourite has to win by more than the spread.
- Over/Under — bet on the total score.
- Pools — pick results against other players for a shared prize pool.
- Futures and Props — season winners and special bets.
Single-game bets arrived in November 2021, a few months after the federal government legalized single-event betting on August 27, 2021. Before that, every Sport Select ticket needed at least two or three games.
Can you bet on Sport Select online?
Only partly. You can build your ticket on the Sport Select website or app, but you pay for it in a store: the app makes a QR code that a Lotto Spot retailer scans. Sport Select is not an online sportsbook with an account balance. For real online betting, the Western provinces use other sites:
- Manitoba and Saskatchewan — PlayNow
- Alberta — Play Alberta, run by AGLC
- Yukon, NWT, Nunavut — no provincial or territorial online sportsbook
Pro-Line in Atlantic Canada and BC
Atlantic Lottery (New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, PEI, Newfoundland and Labrador) sells Pro-Line in stores and online at alc.ca, with single-game bets since 2021–2022. In British Columbia, BCLC replaced its old Sports Action game with BCLC PROLINE in 2024; you build bets in the BCLC PROLINE app and buy them in store. Online sports betting in BC is on PlayNow.
PROLINE and PROLINE+ in Ontario
PROLINE is OLG’s in-store sports lottery, for players 18 and older. PROLINE+ is OLG’s online and mobile sportsbook, launched on August 27, 2021 — the first day single-event betting was legal in Canada. It has live betting and needs an OLG.ca account; you must be 19 or older and located in Ontario. Since April 2022 PROLINE+ also competes with private sportsbooks licensed through iGaming Ontario. Read more in our Ontario guide.
Mise-o-jeu in Quebec
Loto-Québec’s sports lottery is Mise-o-jeu in stores and Mise-o-jeu+ online on lotoquebec.com, where the odds are slightly better. Single-event bets have been available on both since August 27, 2021. You must be 18 or older and located in Quebec. See our Quebec guide.
Sports Lottery vs Online Sportsbook
Lottery-style products like Sport Select and Pro-Line have fixed menus of games, limits on how much you can bet, and you collect winnings at a retailer. Online sportsbooks (PlayNow, PROLINE+, Mise-o-jeu+, Play Alberta) work from an account balance, offer live betting and pay out to your bank. Whichever you use, set a budget first — see our responsible gambling tips.
