Interac e-Transfer

Interac e-Transfer moves money straight from your Canadian bank account, which is why it is the default choice for most players. Provincial sites such as PlayNow accept it for deposits, and many private casinos use payment processors to accept it too. Whether you can also withdraw by e-Transfer depends on the site: PlayNow, for example, pays out only by bank transfer.

Interac Online is gone. The older “Interac Online” checkout was dropped by RBC in January 2023, by credit unions in 2024, and shut down completely on October 31, 2024. If a casino or review still lists it, its information is out of date.

iDebit and Instadebit

Both are pay-by-bank services: you sign in to your online banking through their secure page and the casino never sees your banking details. They are widely used at casinos that serve Canadians, and both support withdrawals. Fees vary by account and site, so check them before you deposit.

Visa, Mastercard and Amex

Canada has no national ban on gambling with a credit card, and provincial sites accept Visa, Mastercard and American Express. But card issuers decide for themselves: some Canadian banks decline online gambling transactions on credit cards — especially at unlicensed offshore sites — and many process them as cash advances, with a fee and interest from the first day. Withdrawals back to a card are rare. Read your cardholder agreement before you try.

PayPal and MuchBetter

PayPal is accepted for deposits on PlayNow, but few casinos that serve Canada outside the provincial systems offer it. MuchBetter is a mobile wallet made for gaming that handles deposits and withdrawals; it is regulated in the UK, so balances are not covered by Canadian deposit insurance (CDIC). Some casinos exclude e-wallet deposits from bonuses.

Paysafecard and Prepaid Vouchers

Paysafecard is a prepaid PIN you buy with cash at a store. It is good for keeping a strict budget and keeping card details private, but it is deposit-only, so you’ll need another method to withdraw. Provincial sites have their own vouchers instead: Web Cash on PlayNow BC and Argent Web on Loto-Québec.

Crypto

No provincial lottery site accepts Bitcoin or other crypto, and operators regulated in Ontario cannot take crypto deposits. Crypto is used at offshore casinos, which are not licensed by any Canadian province. Transfers can be fast, but coin prices move while your money is in transit, network fees apply, and you have fewer ways to complain if something goes wrong.

Payment Methods FAQ

What is the best payment method for online casinos in Canada?

For most Canadians it is Interac e-Transfer: it comes from your own bank account, deposits are near-instant and it is accepted by provincial sites such as PlayNow. For withdrawals, check what the site supports — PlayNow, for example, pays out only by bank transfer (EFT).

Does Interac Online still work at casinos?

No. Interac Online shut down across Canada on October 31, 2024. Sites that still list it are out of date. Use Interac e-Transfer instead.

Can I use a credit card at an online casino in Canada?

Sometimes. There is no national ban, and provincial sites such as PlayNow accept Visa, Mastercard and Amex. But some Canadian banks decline online gambling transactions on credit cards, and many treat them as cash advances with a fee and interest from day one. Check your cardholder agreement.

Are crypto casinos legal in Canada?

No provincial site accepts crypto, and Ontario’s regulated operators cannot take crypto deposits. Crypto is used mainly at offshore sites, which are not licensed by your province. Prices also move while your money is in transit.

Which casino payment methods can I withdraw to?

It depends on the site. Bank transfers (EFT), Interac e-Transfer, iDebit, Instadebit and MuchBetter can usually receive withdrawals where they are offered. Paysafecard and most prepaid vouchers are deposit-only.
